ChingZhu Tea (Bamboo tea) for the Blang People

The Blang people are an ethnic group. They form one of the 56 ethnic groups officially recognized by the People's Republic of China. The live in the Xishuangbanna (or Sipsongpanna) area in Yunnan Province in Southwest China. Bamboo tea is a the tea drunk by Blang people for the daily lives. 

There are large bamboo forests in Xishuangbanna. The Blang people usually cut a section of the bamboo trunk, tip the lower end of the bamboo and stick it into the earth, put tea and water inside the hollow cavity of the bamboo. Next they find some tree branch or leaves and pile them around the bamboo and burn it. The water inside the bamboo will be boiling by the heat of the fire, so the tea is ready to drink. 

The bamboo tea has a very special aroma of bamboo. It is a very natural method to prepare the tea. People also use similar method to cook their rice for the meals.
