DongTing Lake covers 2820 sq km area and is the 2nd largest freshwater lake in China. JuShan is a beautiful island in the west part of DongTing Lake, close to YueYang City, HuNan Province. It is a popular tourist resort in South China.

JunShan YinZhen is a treasured tea produced on JunShan Island. It originated in the Tang Dynasty (AD 618-906) and has been assigned as royal contributions in all the later dynasties.

YinZhen, means "silver needle". This name reflects the straight outlook of the tea sprouts covered with tiny fine hair. Its has a bright golden color, the soup is clear yellowish. When soaked in boiling water, the tips of the tea sprouts point upward, like bamboo's shoot coming out of the earth. The tea will float up and down in the water, this phenomena is called "Three Times Up and Three Time Down".

JunShan YinZhen is made from the tea spouts which haven't been unfolded to leaves. The procedure is very complicated. The green sprouts are covered by the yellow tiny hair, therefore it is also called "The Green Jade Gilded with Gold".
