related group of people recognized by the government of the
People's Republic of China
as one of the 55 official minority groups. You Tea (Oil Tea) is
the major drink for the Miao people. The Miao people like to use
BaBao You Tea to feast their most honored guests. “BaBao” refers
to the many kinds of cereal and nuts they use in the tea, such
as sun dried corn, soy bean, peanut, rice pancake, tofu and
glass noodles. All of the components are fried in hot oil until
crisp, and then will be put into a bowl or teacup for the
drink.
The next step is to fry the tea. The
housewives use tea oil in an iron pot. When the oil is hot, they
put tea leaves and Sichuan pepper inside to stir fry, until the
color of the tea leave become yellow. Then they put water and
ginger inside the pot, add garlic and pepper after the water is
boiling. At last the drinker put the boiling tea soup into the
bowl or cup to mix with the other fried nuts.
The BaBao You tea is very tasteful and
nourish for the drinkers. It is considered the most respecting
ceremony for the guests.
