Su You Tea
In Tibet, Su You is the butter churned from the milk of yaks of
goats. Su You tea is the mixture of Su You butter and tea. The
Tibetan people (also called the Zang People) use butter, mutton and cereal as their major food,
therefore tea has become not only an important drink in the daily
life, but also the major resource of Vitamin C, and a essential
element to keep the digest system functional.
Tibetan people usually use compressed tea such as Pu-Er tea or Jin-Jian
to make Su You tea. The tea, the butter are well mixed with walnut,
pine nut, peanut, sesame, egg and salt. The mixture need to be
stirred well to make sure it is homogeneous.

Since Su You tea is
the mixture of many ingredients, by changing the formula people can
make different Su You tea, depend on the individual's habit and
taste. Su You tea is actually an important part of every meal in
Tibetan families. People also use Su You tea to feast their guest as
a symbol of their hospitality. It is also used in many religion
ceremonies.
