Lu-an GuaPian
"Gua Pian", means "melon seed". Lu-An
GuaPian is a very famous sort of green tea in China. Lu-an GuaPian
is totally made from tea leaves, without a single piece of sprout our
stem on the tea tree. The tea leaves look like the seeds of melon, that
why it is called "GuaPian". GuaPian tea is mainly produced in Lu-An,
Jin-Zhai and Huo-Shan (all in AnHui Prov.), therefore people call it
Lu-An GuaPian.
GuaPian has been famous since Tang
Dynasty (AD618-907). In Song Dynasty it is considered to be one of the
best tea in China (AD960-1279). Before Ming Dynasty (AD1368-1644) it had
became a royal contribution.
The best GuaPian is produced in the Bat
Cave, ChiYun Mount., JinZhai Country. It has a bright green color,
fragrant smell, fresh and sweet taste. It is a highly valued member in
the green tea family.
