PingShui ZhuCha
ZhuCha, meaning "pearl tea", is a special tea product in ZheJiang
Province. The production area includes many towns such as ShaoXing,
ZhuJi, XinChang, XiaoShan, ShangYu, YuYao, TianTai, YinXian, FengHua and
DongYang. PingShui is a famous town southeast to ShaoXing city. It has
been the tea production and trade hub for a long history. Tea planted in
other towns will be transfered to Pingshui for detail procession and
distribution. Therefore the pearl tea planted in the whole province is
called "PingShui ZhuCha".
ZhuCha (pearl tea), also called YuanCha (round tea), has its special
bead appearance. The tea leaves are curled and compacted to a tiny tea
ball, when soaked in hot water, the leave will open like a flower
blossom. The other characteristic of pearl tea is its strong aroma,
which can be reenforce by other flowers such as jasmine. Nowadays the
pearl tea has a very stable market all over the world.
