
Colored Pottery Goblet
DaWenKou Archeological Site
This is an elegant pottery goblet produced in
the DaWenKou Culture. The DaWenKou culture started about
6000 years ago and lasted for 2000 years. It was famous for
its high pottery technology. The color included red, gray,
black and white. People usually painted pattern on the
potteries as a decoration. The goblet was the most
characteristic container of DaWenKou culture.
This goblet is not used as drinking
equipment, it was a container for meat instead. The foot of
the goblet evolved to be the under tray in the later time.

Black Pottery Goblet with Hollow-out Stalk
Height: 21.75cm, Diameter: 7.25 cm, Diameter
of the foot: 6.05 cm
This is a black pottery container. The wall
of the goblet is as thin as a egg shell. The surface is
black and bright. There is engraved hollow-out decoration on
the stalk. It is a very nice product of the DaWenKou
culture.
