Tea Pot (Zhi Hu) with Green and Black Glaze

Black glaze is an important group of porcelains. It was produced as early as the Han Dynasty. The content of iron in the black glaze is higher than other colored glaze, that is the reason for its dark color.

Zhi Hu was also called Zhu Zi, Zhu Hu, Pian Ti or Tang Ping. The basic design was open sprout, steer shoulder, round cavity, flat bottom and handle on the side. It was very popular from the middle Tang Dynasty to the Song Dynasty. In the Song Dynasty, the shape of Zhi Hu was slimer than that in the previous Tang Dynasty.
