Bowl with White Glaze

Song Dynasty

This is a typical bowl made in the Southern Song Dynasty: it is open, shallow and has a high bottom ring. On the external wall carved some decorative patterns. Although the craftsman used only single color of the glaze, the glaze accumulated on the depressed area. therefore there was differenciation of the tone.

The Jingdezhen Kiln in the Song Dynasty majoyly produced white-green procelains. It was some color between white and green, looked like the sallow water in the lake. It was also called artificial jade.
