Green Glaze Cup With Tray (the South Dynasty)

Height: 6 cm
Diameter of the cup: 9.8 cm
Diameter of the tray: 15.5 cm

The tea set consists of a cup and a tray. The cup was designed as a lotus; the tray was also carved as the blossom of a lotus. The color of the glaze is yellow-green. The whole set looks like a lotus lantern.

Celadon was used in the East Jin Dynasty and the South Dynasty. In South China the tea cup and tray had already been used together. The center of the tray forms a fovea to hold the cup while the peripheral rise up. This style has been kept till today and also used in the design of GaiWan.
