"The Picture of Making Tea Soup"

Tang Yin, Ming Dynasty

This picture is reserved in TaiPai National Palace Museum

Tang bo hu,also named Tang Yin, the famous painter in the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644 A.D),was a native of Wu country,Jiangsu province. He had been put in prison for malpractice in civil recruitment examination. He was talented in painting landscape, human figures and flower-and-bird which following the style of Zhou Chen. He was honored as the Four Great Masters in the Ming Dynasty with Shen Zhou,Wen Zhen'ming and Qiu Ying.

This picture depicts a reclusive scholar sitting on an armchair beside bamboos in the high mountains. On his right side there was a young servant stewing the tea soup on a small stove. There were several apparatus on the tea table aside. The scholar was pinching his beard with his hand, totally merged himself amid the wind, the bamboos and the mountain around him. The spirit of art and culture has enlightened the short nature lives in this world.
