The HuPao Spring
is in the HuPao Temple (also called HuiChan Temple) under the BaHe
Peak of Mount DaCi, 5 kilometers from the city of HangZhou. There is
a story about the HuPao Spring: in the Tang Dynasty there was a monk
HuanZhong living here. One day, he dreamed an angel told
him there is a good spring in the HengShan Mountain. He would send
two tigers to carry the spring to HuanZhong the next day. The next
morning HuanZhong saw two tigers digged in the ground, then there
was a spring emerged, so the spring was named HuPao (the Running
Tiger, also the same pronunciation as the Digging Tiger).
The HangZhou city is famous for its LongJing Tea production.
LongJing tea is considered as one of the best green teas in China.
For over a thousand years the HuPao water and the LongJing Tea has
been recognized as a perfect match sample between tea and water. The
Tea Saint LuYu called the HuPao water "the No. 3 water".
