015.jpg (2615 bytes)The Pearl Spring is now located in the Pearl Hotel in the city of JiNan, the capital of ShanDong Province. It is just a few miles from the so-called "the No. 1 Spring" -- the BaoTu Spring in the same city. The Pearl Spring gushes from underground like a string of pearl. The water pool is about the size of a basketball playground and people can see through the water to the bottom of the pool. There several other smaller springs around, all the springs gather into the DaMing Lake nearby.

In the Qing Dynast when the Emperor QianLong evaluated the famous springs all over the country, this spring was appraised as the third best spring. Therefore it is also called the "No. 3 Spring" in the country. When the emperor traveled to ShanDong, the local officers always prepared Pearl Spring water for his drinking.
