JinShan Hill is a small hill in ZhenJiang City, JiangSu Province. It is located on the side of the YangZi River. It is famous for its JinShan Temple which attracts millions of tourists every year. About half a kilometer west to the JinShan hill, there is a well-known ZhongLing spring. In Tang Dynasty it was called the NanLing water and ranked as the best water by the scholar Liu BoChu.

ZhongLing spring was probably the most special spring in China: it was located in the middle of the YangZi river, and always merged in the river water. Therefore it was very difficult to get the real ZhongLing water: it could only be obtained at specific time (between 11am - 1 pm, or 23pm - 1am) in the day, with some special device, such as a rope with a specific length and a brass bottle. Only when people jss.jpg (10241 bytes)dropped the bottle to the cave in the bottom of the river at the special time, they could get the real ZhongLing water. Otherwise it was only the water of YangZi River. That was why it is highly valued by many tea drinkers.

The real ZhongLing water is very good for the tea drinkers. With this spring people can make very delicious tea. Man scholars and celebrities wrote down articles and poems about this spring.

In the recent one hundred years, the YangZi river has moved its river bed to the north. Therefore the south bank of the river has extended. Today the ZhongLing Spring has emerged from the bottom of the river and connected to the land. The local people has built a kiosk and a stone fence on its side. On the fence the calligrapher Wang RenKan wrote down "the No. 1 Spring". Now it is a famous resort in ZhenJiang City.
